Cant deploy .exe .msi Cannot deploy to Portal

I have tried this multiple ways.

I am trying to install SnagIt on a computer. I cannot get the exe or the msi to install on this machine. I have access to the path and it runs from the network. There are no additional files to download that I know of. This is failing each time. The log only says it couldnt download additional files. I have been searching all morning for an answer in the distribution community and I have followed many suggestions on those posts. I would appreciate any support.

I can get the MSI to start but it fails.

Thanks,

JD

Re: Cant deploy .exe .msi Cannot deploy to Portal

Can you post the log file so we can see the error code?

Also you said you have tested the install where you using local system or logged on user to do this.

By default All software dist tasks are running as local system. If in 8.8 you can choose either local system or logged on user.

I would test your paths and ability to download as local system for more information on that see:

running as Microsoft's "Local System" account

JD,

Did you check Jason's instructions to make sure LocalSystem has access to the UNC path? Does the UNC share have "Domain Computers" listed with at least read access?

http://community.landesk.com/downloads/patch/SWD-1205188.1-2.zip  for 8.8 sp1

http://community.landesk.com/downloads/patch/SWD-1205187.5-2.zip for 8.7 sp5

This should address the (0x8dac4026 - code 16422) in the task log.  You should delete and re-create the task after applying.

What is the date and version of lddwnld.dll on a failing client machine?

I think that version is 8.8 flat. Try applying the client patch that Ty mentioned on that one client and retest.

Re: Cant deploy .exe .msi Cannot deploy to Portal

If your client is on SP2 you would have version 8.80.2.4 dated 8/12/08. You may need to re-apply SP2 to the client machine if you have previously applied it.

Does this work if you do a run from source?  re-set the package hash first
